CyberGuide Spotlight
We just had a Live CyberGuide Chat on Wednesday, Nov. 15! Below is a snapshot of Dr. Bruce Elliott -- one of our CyberGuide volunteers.
Bruce Elliott is retired from
the position of Executive Director, Office of Sponsored Research, Northwestern
University Chicago Campus. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a
degree in Microbiology and earned his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of
Illinois at Chicago. His career has encompassed research, teaching, and
university research administration.
Now that he is retired, he enjoys
participating as a judge in local and state science fairs and mentoring high
school students in understanding the research enterprise and in developing
their potential as future scientists. Young students in STEM courses have an
opportunity in eCYBERMISSION to design experiments or structures using their
growing knowledge of science while they are still at the age where STEM fields
can become an academic interest.
eCYBERMISSION is a wonderful way of
inspiring young students in the methodology of science and engineering and in
addressing community problems using these rigorous approaches. It also provides
researchers and educators an opportunity to share their experiences with young
students through advising teams and providing thoughtful critiques of their
projects.
