First-Place Mississippi Team tours U.S. Army facilities
Sixth-Grade eCYBERMISSION Team, Stellar STEM discovered just a few months ago that they were the First-Place Winning Team for their grade and state. The team, from St. Richard School in Jackson, Miss., won $1,000 in U.S. EE Savings Bonds per student.
In honor of their hard work, eCYBERMISSION Ambassador, Jeff Steevens planned a tour of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, Miss. Team Advisor Laura Uecker and students Alexander Bellan, Sutton Klein, Nathan Lancaster and Molly Nguyen were able to meet Colonel Kevin Wilson, Commander of ERDC, and Dr. John Cullinane, Deputy Director of ERDC. Students also had the opportunity to observe the Gains in the Advancement of Mathematics and Science, also known as GEMS, Science Camp activities, a blast load simulator, green bombs and bullets, and biologically inspired technologies and toxicology.
Congratulations to the Stellar STEM team and thank you to eCYBERMISSION Ambassador, Jeff Steevens for helping students see the fun in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)!
